Christmas Elvez, by Audie Lewis, is a new holiday romance starting today on Kindle Vella. In this Christmas story, Lucy loses her dream journalism job when her magazine folds. Abruptly unemployed, she ends up taking a unusual part-time job working for Christmas Elvez, the Uber of holiday tasks. These range from choosing an ugly sweater for a busy woman, to wrapping dozens of presents in time for a big office party, to setting up a tree for a holiday grinch.

Oh, yes, the sort of random one-off jobs you get when your magazine just goes under one day and leaves you unemployed. I DEFINITELY don’t know anything about that. Nope. I’m old, so I found all my random part-time work on Craig’s List, not on Twitter like Lucy, but the showing up in person to prove you’re not obviously a crazed serial killer before starting a random gig felt pretty familiar…

Each chapter of Christmas Elvez takes place in December, beginning with Lucy agreeing to take the job on December first, and ending on Christmas Day. I got an early peek at Lucy’s first five days, and there’s clearly magical Christmas romance coming, if all these exhausting pre-holiday tasks don’t ruin poor Lucy’s December.
