Paper Wife Spoilers: Oh No She Didn’t!

I really enjoyed this novel, as you can tell from my Paper Wife book review, but there is one thing that Mei does that just seems wildly out of character. If you haven’t read the book, stop now and go get Paper Wife, because this post has an extreme spoiler.

Killing Jack in cold blood, BY SHOVING HIM INTO THE OCEAN? Are you kidding? I know Mei wanted to protect little Siew, and I think that would have motivated her, but Mei straight up murders a guy! And after that, she basically just shrugs and moves on. I could believe that she didn’t get caught and that none of the authorities even suspected her, though, because no one would expect Mei to straight up MURDER A MAN.
